Texts Portable

This is the portable version of Texts, a simple-to-use word processor that comes packed with a set of intuitive and handy options for all user groups, both novices and experienced.

Portability advantages

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the app directory to any location on the hard disk and run the executable directly.
Another option is to save a copy of Texts to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.
An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry and Start menu do not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the disk without the user's consent, leaving it clean after removal.

Familiar and intuitive GUI

The interface is based on a simple window that resembles Windows' Notepad. It is possible to insert hyperlinks, footnotes, tables and images (PNG, JPG, JPEG), as well as to customize paragraphs when it comes to the heading type, code and math blocks, quotations, comments (highlighted), numbering, and others.

Simple and handy options

Text selections can be copied as plain text or HTML, while entire paragraphs can be shifted to another position. Furthermore, users may change the writing direction from right to left, use a basic search function (without filters) and find the next occurrence of a word, switch to full screen mode, increase or decrease the font size, change the UI theme, as well as view word or character counts (in the title bar).

Evaluation and conclusion

As expected, the tool is undemanding when it comes to CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the PC's overall performance. There were no stability issues throughout our evaluation, as Texts did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. On the other hand, it comprises a limited set of features for a word processor. On top of that, all options from the "Word" menu did not work at all in our tests. Although it is simple to use and meets basic word processing necessities, users can easily resort to other text tools richer than Texts.
