VisualPhotoCompare Description
Working with a lot of pictures in your projects can leave a lot of duplicates behind. On the long run, these can end up taking quite a bit of disk space, and it becomes frustrating to manually have to identify them. Luckily, specialized applications like VisualPhotoCompare can detect them through powerful algorithms.
Clean interface quickly gets you up and running
On the bright side of things, the application doesn’t depend on particular registry entries to enable functionality, leaving them intact. You’re not taken through a setup process, so it’s easy to have it carried around on a thumb drive to always have it at hand, while it keeps the health status of the target PC intact.
As far as the visual design goes, all tools you need to perform all operations are found in a single, pretty intuitive window. It’s structured in several steps by the end of which results can be analyzed in your default web browser as a HTML file. There’s a built-in navigation panel, preview area, ID file, as well as algorithm parameters.
Detect duplicate pictures, even if under different size specifications
Although the name suggests it’s a tool meant to compare images, it’s actually dedicated to easily detecting duplicate pictures. However, it does use the method of comparing photos by having a virtual grid created and calculating the color threshold in each to tell whether or not two pictures are the same.
Note that you can only work with JPG images in the folder you select. It’s possible to include subdirectory items for a better chance of detecting duplicates. Results are delivered as thorough details inside a TXT file, but there’s also a HTML file created which shows previews of compared items.
A few last words
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that VisualPhotoCompare is a practical tool to detect duplicate image files on your computer, in case everything else fails. A pretty powerful algorithm is used to detect them, even if images are found under different size specifications.
