WinShutdown Description
WinShutdown is a lightweight utility that can be set to shut down the computer in 10 seconds with one click, unless you cancel the task if you change your mind. It's available in English and German, featuring a simple set of options.
Doesn't require installation
The entire tool's wrapped in a portable package, made from one .exe file. It can be just copied to the hard disk or pen drive instead of installing it, in order to effortlessly run WinShutdown on any machine with minimum effort.
It doesn't generate files and folders on the disk without letting you know about it. Although it adds new entries to the Windows registry, it also enables you to delete them quickly when you want to completely remove the application from the computer.
Turn off the computer in 10 seconds or pause the task
At startup, you can select one of the two languages available, and proceed to the main panel after accepting the EULA. The 10-second countdown timer can be triggered with one click. Before doing so, you should make sure not to leave any ongoing work unsaved. As informed by the tool, any unsaved data shall be discarded. The app features a failsafe, however, giving you the possibility to pause and resume the task.
Customize a couple of options
As far as configuration settings are concerned, you can set the countdown timer to start automatically when deploying WinShutdown, without having to press the button, opt for another UI language, or delete the registry keys created by the application (should be run separately for each PC user account).
Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly in our tests and successfully turned off the computer using force. Although it's not as feature-rich as other shutdown managers out there which give you the possibility to set custom time, WinShutdown is straightforward and ideal for scenarios that don't give you the luxury of time to personalize options.
