Your Free Disk Counter

Your Free Disk Counter is a small Windows tool developed to provide statistics on disk space usage.
The GUI is pretty simple and adopts a multi-panel layout to display the essential statistics, but also to offer one-click access to the main Windows disk utilities.
When it comes to information, Your Free Disk Counter shows the disk type, disk serial number, total bytes number, total bytes used and total free bytes for any selected drive, with a tiny “Refresh” button to update these figures in a second.
As for the supported Windows utilities, Your Free Disk Counter lets you instantly open “Disk Cleanup”, “Disk Defragmenter”, “Backup Utility”, “System Information” and “System Restore”.
The application also comes with dedicated options to minimize it to Taskbar or to the System Tray, but the Tray icon has no other role than to let you open the app in a second. That's one of the drawbacks too, as this icon could be used to show the essential details on the go.
On the good side however, you shouldn't notice any high CPU usage while using this app. We didn't during our test and it's worth mentioning that Your Free Disk Counter works like a charm on all Windows versions out there. Administrator privileges aren't required on Windows 7 machines.
Overall, Your Free Disk Counter clearly serves its purpose, but it's hard to be impressed by this fairly limited amount of information. Although it was designed to show plenty of disk details, you don't get more than disk type, serial number and used space statistics.
