Encryption can help protect files where an antivirus application has no real power. There are various algorithms which can be used on entire files, or simply content of text documents. For instance, Base64er monitors your clipboard and converts content to Base64 code at the press of a button.

Can be used on the go

The application comes in a lightweight package which doesn’t even require installation to function, so you can go ahead and run it as soon as download is done. It doesn’t affect any registry entries during runtime, which makes it suitable to carry around on a thumb drive to use on other computers besides your own.
It minimizes to the tray area as soon as it’s launched. In fact, it’s the place where you always find it, with no corresponding main window or any other options besides what the menu has to offer. As the name suggests, all text you decide to encrypt is converted into Base64.

Encrypt clipboard text

You don’t get to work with files directly, not even text documents, even though the only accepted input is text. The application monitors your clipboard and whenever you’re ready text is processed and delivered in the encrypted form back to the clipboard. A tooltip also shows up after each operation with a preview of content.
Decryption is done in the same manner, so all operations involve the clipboard. Unfortunately, there’s no option to automatically encrypt content once it reaches the clipboard. For more comfort, you can assign a hotkey to the shortcut from the Properties panel. Additionally, placing a shortcut in the system Startup folder makes it run with Windows every time.
