HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Stream Extractor Description
HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Stream Extractor is a tiny and portable software application that acts as a graphical interface for the eac3to command-line tool. As the name implies, it can extract the media stream from HD-DVD and Blu-ray content. It offers support for EVO, VOB, TS, M2TS, MKV videos and MPLS playlists, and does not sport an extensive set of options, making it accessible to all types of users.
Portability advantages
Since there is not setup pack implied, you can save the program files to any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to launch the app. You should take into account that it must be placed in the same directory as eac3to to work.
Another possibility is to save HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Stream Extractor to a removable storage device to directly run it on any PC. More importantly, it does not modify Windows registry settings or create extra files on the disk without your consent, thus leaving it clean after removal.
Simple-to-use interface and options
The GUI is user-friendly. You can point out a file to process via the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop method is not supported, extract information with one click, and check out the audio and video properties of the respective file. The audio and video streams can be extracted in multiple formats, and command lines are supported to extend the tool's functionality. Once the output directory is specified, you can proceed with the extraction job.
Evaluation and conclusion
We have not come across any issues in our tests, since HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Stream Extractor did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It has a good response time and runs on a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it should not put a strain on computer resources. All in all, the tool gets the job done.
