MyNote Description
Several Windows iterations ago, Microsoft introduced gadgets, among which there were also small sticky notes you can keep on the desktop to remind you of stuff that needs to be done. These are still accessible in latest builds, but more features can be accessed with third-party alternatives like MyNote.
Can’t save or load text files
Before you can go off checking the application’s set of features, or even installing it, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is a part of your computer. The visual design might not make that much of a first impression, with a classic window frame housing all functions in a small upper toolbar, with the rest of the space being dedicated to text.
You can start writing down notes and text of interest as soon as the application launches. Sadly, there’s no possibility to load any existing text files, not even that under the TXT format. However, there are dedicated buttons to quickly grab clipboard content, for less effort, and a quick solution to import text from various sources.
Leaves more to be desired
Customization isn’t among the strong points, and the application only comes with four different colors for text. This applies to the entire document, which means you can highlight a specific string, or paragraph. What’s more, the font is plain simple, with no built-in options to change type, style, or size.
If you want to create more notes, this needs to be done by running more instances, with no dedicated function to quickly bring up a new box. What’s more, content is discarded on exit, unless you decide to sent it to clipboard, or have your default email client brought up to forward content.
To end with
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that MyNote comes with good intentions, but doesn’t quite manage to live up to expectations, presenting features in a rough design. The set of features is rather poor, with only a few color option which apply to the whole text, difficult management of multiple notes, and tricky save options.
