Sticky Notes

Sticky Notes is a tiny and portable utility that enables you to easily create important notes and attach them to your desktop, in order to keep track of upcoming events, appointments, birthdays, drafts, tasks, to-do lists, or anything else.

Portable tool runs in the systray

It's wrapped in a single .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the disk or copied to a flash disk, in order to directly run the application on any computer. It doesn't have prerequisites or modify Windows registry settings. However, it automatically creates a DAT file for your configuration details and places it in the same location as the .exe.
It creates an icon in the systray at startup and sits there silently until needed. Therefore, it doesn't interrupt your normal PC activity.

Create multiple notes and customize colors

Double-clicking this icon brings up a small panel which lets you add new notes by specifying a subject and message. The text and background color can be turned into anything else, which means that you can have multiple notes with different colors at the same time on the desktop.
Each note can be moved to any position on the screen by dragging the mouse cursor, and its text contents can be edited anytime. There are no other noteworthy options provided by this piece of software.
Unfortunately, it doesn't implement options for printing notes, exporting them to plain text documents for safekeeping, organizing notes into different categories, or combining multiple notes into a single one, to name some examples.

Evaluation and conclusion

CPU and RAM usage was barely significant during Sticky Notes' runtime, so it didn't affect the computer's performance. On the other hand, it has a light set of options, which are mostly suitable for first-time users, not experienced ones too.
