Portable Swap'em

This is the portable edition of Swap'em, a tiny and simple-to-use piece of kit that enables you to swap two file names in just a couple of clicks. It does not come packed with complex options or configuration settings, so it can be handled by any kind of users, whether they have previous experience with such apps or not.

Portability perks

As there is no setup pack involved, you can save the program files to any part of the hard disk and just launch the executable file. It is also possible to save Swap'em to a mass storage device (like a pen drive) in order to use it on any PC without previous installations.
Worth taking into account is that the program does not modify Windows registry settings or create additional files on the disk, thus leaving no traces behind after removal.

Clear-cut interface and options

The GUI is based on a single window with a plain and simple layout. All you have to do is use the drag-and-drop method to add two files or folders to the main frame; their names will be automatically swapped.

Configure settings easily

In addition, it is possible to ask the tool to swap the files instead of the names, integrate it into the Windows Explorer context menu for fast and easy access, make the frame stay on top of other windows, use CRC32 checksums to confirm file integrity, as well as hide swap confirmations. There are no other noteworthy options available here.

Evaluation and conclusion

The tool does not put a strain on computer performance, since it runs on low CPU and RAM. It is very responsive to commands and worked smoothly in our tests, without hanging, crashing or popping up error messages. All in all, Swap'em serves its purpose and can be easily used by anyone.
