String Vault Description
Having to work with text documents might mean you also need to keep them protected. There are various methods through which this is possible, including encryption. It’s exactly the purpose of String Vault, which helps you create secure vaults in which to save important text documents and lock them with a password.
Can be used on the go
A cool thing about it is that it doesn’t take you through the steps of an installer, so it can be a personal text encryption tool you can easily carry around on a thumb drive. Note, however, that functionality of the application completely relies on .NET Framework, so you need to be sure it is installed on the computer you run the program.
As far as the visual design is concerned, the application manages to keep things simple, yet intuitive. Most of the space is the text edit area, while all functions are found in the upper toolbar. Text needs to be inserted manually from clipboard, because there’s no option to directly open any file.
Always write the password first
One of the most important elements here is the password field. It can’t be made to show characters in order to prevent others from seeing it. Be sure to remember the password, because it’s required to be able to decrypt documents later on. It’s a good idea to handle the password field first, and then see to your text.
Vaults are saved to a location of your choice under the DLL file format. You might run into errors when attempting to open a vault, but this is only if you do so without writing the proper password in the dedicated field first.
A few last words
To sum it up, String Vault is a straightforward text encryption tool which manages to get the job properly done overall. Even though there’s no option to load at least plain text files, working with the clipboard isn’t difficult, and you’re easily able to protect text strings with a custom password thanks to this app.
