Pic2Icon

Pic2Icon is a tiny and portable piece of kit that can create icon files (ICO format) from images with various extensions, namely JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP and TIFF.
It does not include complex options or configuration parameters, so it can be easily handled by all kinds of users, even the ones with little or no prior experience in photo conversion apps.
As there is no installation involved, you can drop the EXE file in any directory on the hard disk and just click it to run.
An alternative is to save a copy of Pic2Icon to a pen drive or similar mass storage device, in order to run it on any PC effortlessly and without installing anything beforehand.
The UI is made from a single, small window with a WYSIWYG aspect, where you can import an image file using the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop support is not featured. A photo preview is shown here.
Batch processing is not possible, so you can work with only one image file at a time. Once the output directory and file name are established, you can start conversion immediately.
Pic2Icon carries out a job rapidly while using low CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the overall performance of the computer. We have not come across any issues in our testing, since the tool did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs.
However, the icon files are not resized with the appropriate dimension. Instead, the original image size is preserved. Thanks to its overall simplicity, Pic2Icon can be handled by anyone.
