Task Cleaner Description
Everything running on your computer is handled by a process you can view, and manipulate with the Windows Task Manager. Even the operating system itself starts a variety of tasks it needs to function. However, some also run without your consent, and can use a lot of system resources. In this regard, Task Cleaner gives you the possibility to kill multiple processes at a time.
Can be used on the go
A neat advantage is that you don’t have to go through the effort of installing it, and you can carry it around on a USB flash drive to use on other computers as well. Another advantage of portability is that system registries don’t need to be modified for things to work, which means the target PC’s health status remains intact.
You might want to run it with administrator privileges so it can close even stubborn tasks. On launch, the main window shows up, with a clean, simple design that lets anyone quickly accommodate, regardless of experience. Two panes are at your disposal, one which shows the processes to be killed, while the other provides a summary of the operation.
Terminate more processes at a time
The application works by reading processes from a list you need to manually create. There’s a default one with several common tasks you might not really need, but you’re free to change it. However, the list is a plain text file, and it needs to be filled with one process per line, with the exact name found in the task manager.
It would have been useful to be able to view and read tasks directly from the main window, without having to depend on the Task Manager for names. On the other hand, you can create the list by writing inside the dedicated main window pane. At the press of a button, tasks are terminated, with the log showing what got handled, and what not.
A few last words
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Task Cleaner is a practical application which comes in handy especially to forcefully terminate those tasks you don’t need, but don’t really know how to get rid of. It might seem a little ambiguous in terms of use, and design, but giving it a shot convinces you it’s in fact easy to use.
